There’s a big revolution currently happening in the auto industry. While the idea of making eco-friendly vehicles was kind of a quaint notion a couple decades ago, now carmakers are actually focused on real change.
Jeep® is a perfect example. It recently launched the Jeep Wrangler 4xe plug-in hybrid, and all-electric Jeep SUVs are in the works. Here are some early details we have about the Jeep Wrangler Magneto concept model.
Powertrain
The Jeep Wrangler Magneto operates with a custom-built axial flux motor and four battery packs with a combined power of 70 kWh to create an 800-volt system. This is comparable to a 3.6-liter V6 engine that produces 285 horsepower and 273 lb.-ft. of torque. With this setup, the Jeep Wrangler Magneto can go from zero to 60 mph in 6.8 seconds.
Unique Features
How would you like to unlock your vehicle or even start it just by showing your face? The Jeep Wrangler Magneto uses biometric recognition technology that lets you do just that. It also offers bi-directional peer-to-peer charging, which will enable one vehicle to charge another with its battery power.
Off-Roading
Any Jeep Wrangler is perfectly suited to handle rough terrain, but the Jeep Wrangler Magneto takes that up a few notches. With the Jeep Trails feature, 6,000 off-road trails are preloaded into the infotainment system, which will come in handy when exploring unfamiliar areas. Remote vehicle tracking is another new feature, so you will always be able to keep tabs on your Jeep.
As exciting as this sounds, unfortunately the earliest you’ll be able to get your hands on a Jeep Wrangler Magneto is probably 2024. For more information about this vehicle or any other electric models, get in touch with Fields Chrysler Jeep Dodge RAM Glenview.
