How to Properly Wash Your Car

Washing your vehicle regularly not only helps it look shiny and sleek on the road; it also removes dirt and debris that can damage your paint, cause rust, and lead to expensive repairs and replacements.

Here are a few things you’ll want to consider before washing your car at home:

  • Use the right tools. Household cleaners and drying supplies aren’t always designed for vehicles and can even leave scratches on your exterior. It’s important to find car washing supplies and microfiber towels when you plan on washing your car.
  • Rinse your vehicle. Start by removing as much caked-on dirt or debris as you can from your Jeep Wrangler. Dirt and road salt can cause scratches and surface damage that you’ll definitely want to avoid.
  • Stay out of the sun. It’s best to wash your vehicle in full or partial shade. This keeps it from drying too quickly and leaving water spots.
  • Wash in straight lines. Another way to prevent your paint from scratching is by moving your sponge in straight lines rather than circles.
  • Dry completely. Use your microfiber cloth to remove any water from your vehicle’s surface, instead of allowing it to air dry.
  • Protect your car. Go a step further with waxing and detailing kits that will protect the surface of your vehicle.
