It may be hard to believe but it's definitely true: 2013 is just around the corner. Well, maybe not this corner, but it's coming up awfully soon. One thing's for sure: as we head into March, we're already learning some exciting details about Dodge's 2013 lineup, and specifically its Ram pickup model.

Next year's model will be fitted with a Pentastar V-6 engine and eight-speed transmission, and both features will make this vehicle more fuel efficient than ever before. What that means for drivers is they'll be looking at an engine platform with greater flexibility and more explosive power.

The V-6 Pentastar replaces the model's former six-cylinder engine and has already made its way into 11 Chrysler, Dodge and Jeep models. Likewise, 2013 DodgeRam drivers in Evanston and beyond will not be the first to try out the eight-speed transmission, which has already been placed in the Chrysler 300 and Dodge Charger. This transmission is designed to lower fuel consumption by as much as 12 percent over Chrysler's existing five-speed transmissions.

But Chrysler is unveiling even more of its 2013 plans already, including news on the Jeep Grand Cherokee, Dodge Durango and Ram 1500 pickup. All are expected to receive eight-speed transmission as well. We at Fields ChryslerJeep Dodge also hear rumors that the 2013 Ram will be getting a makeover before release, and while this information hasn't been confirmed, we can't help getting excited.

Finally, Chrysler announced its plans to introduce start-stop technology in 90 percent of its North American lineup by 2017. The future certainly looks bright.
