We all know that Chrysler does a great job manufacturing cars. And we're not just saying that because we represent Fields Chrysler Jeep Dodge - it's true! Cars represent our industry, our passion and our expertise, and we're proud of the work we've done over the last year.

What others may not know is that our work doesn't stop at the edge of our showroom floor, or even our parking lot. We're doing whatever we can to improve lives, whether we're talking about the safety and comfort of the drivers who purchase our vehicles or the people who help build, sell or repair them.

That's why Chrysler was recognized at the 16th Annual Urban Wheels Awards show on Jan. 8 in Detroit. A panel of 15 multicultural and mainstream media journalists named Chrysler "Company of the Year" for its diversity initiative in the area of workforce development.

The automaker's inclusive work culture sets it apart from other companies in the industry, and now its exclusive recognition does as well. The Annual Urban Wheel Awards program is considered the North American International Auto Show's official multicultural event by the decision of the Executive Committee. The program, which attracted nearly 2,000 attendees this year, is the only award show in the country to round up international media, automotive executives, government figures, celebrities and the multicultural community to commemorate diversity advancements in the automotive industry.

Collectively, Chrysler's achievement was the decision of the Urban Wheel Awards panel of judges, the Emerging Diversity Education Fund and Decisive Media. Formally recognized as an industry leader, Chrysler's progressive diversity initiatives extended to the automaker's internal leadership commitment in 2011. For Chrysler, Skokie drivers and their everyday needs provide an opportunity for another kind of leadership. The company's success in diversifying its workforce only strengthens its already impressive performance as an automaker.
