There is really only one downside to driving a convertible: once you do, you'll want everything else in your life to be convertible, too.

With that warning in mind, we at Fields Chrysler Jeep Dodge can't help but recommend the 2012 Chrysler 200 S Convertible as you shop for your next vehicle. Not afraid of convertible fever? Then read on.

When you're on the hunt for a new car, there are several factors to consider: price, style, performance, but most of all, safety. If you're smart about it, though, you'll be car shopping at a leading Skokie Dodge dealer, where you know you'll be looking at exceptional vehicles.

That's because the 2012 Dodge Charger and 2012 Chrysler 300 have both earned 5-star safety ratings - the highest possible - from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

Chrysler 100 promises to have it all

One hundred. It's such a nice round number. And now Chrysler is making it even nicer.

The automaker is upping its game by a nice 100 percent, offering a vehicle that is comparable to both the Ford Focus and Honda Civic in terms of small-car handling but that has the reliable name and styling of a Chrysler. The automaker that has brought the Chrysler Town & Country to satisfied Skokie drivers for years is preparing to introduce the Chrysler 100 to the auto market for 2013.

As all drivers in Northfield with a used Jeep Wrangler know, this automaker really knows its stuff. That's one reason why the company sold 122,460 Wranglers last year, which adds up to a 30-percent rise over 2010 sales. The increases weren't limited to the automaker's home market, though, as sales outside of the United States rose 10 percent to 26,278 last year.

The motto throughout much of America is "family comes first." Fortunately, for families that feel that way, Fields Chrysler Jeep Dodge now has the family vehicle that comes in first as well. That's because the 2012 Chrysler Town & Country has been named the "Best Family Hauler" by Detroit News Readers' Choice for the seventh consecutive year.

We all know about the dream that Martin Luther King Jr. had decades ago, but we at Fields Chrysler Jeep Dodge don't believe he had any idea with what strength his vision would catch on. Certainly he did not have a national holiday in his honor in mind when he worked tirelessly for Civil Rights, but his legacy has been undeniable.

That's why more than 150 employees of Chrysler Group LLC will be adopting a full week of community service activities beginning today, the holiday honoring King's birthday.

We all know that Chrysler does a great job manufacturing cars. And we're not just saying that because we represent Fields Chrysler Jeep Dodge - it's true! Cars represent our industry, our passion and our expertise, and we're proud of the work we've done over the last year.

What others may not know is that our work doesn't stop at the edge of our showroom floor, or even our parking lot. We're doing whatever we can to improve lives, whether we're talking about the safety and comfort of the drivers who purchase our vehicles or the people who help build, sell or repair them.

What others may not know is that our work doesn't stop at the edge of our showroom floor, or even our parking lot?

Remember Spinal Tap and the amps that go up to 11? If guitar sound was important enough to up the amp to 11, imagine how high of a number carmakers could put on safety. The importance of safety is limitless, but when it comes to Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge and Fiat, the number 11 is where it's at.

It's pretty impossible to avoid the truth. We run into reminders in every store and restaurant, down every street we drive, and even in the faces of children. Christmas is only a handful of days away, and that means the whole jolly world is in full holiday season.

That includes, of course, Jeep and Ram automakers. They're playing Santa again this year with their Haul-A-Day promotion, which gives Jeep Skokiedrivers and enthusiasts plenty of opportunities to clean up on the Christmas loot. But these presents may not fit under the tree. That's not to say that 2011 DodgeRam Skokie drivers shouldn't start making room for their wins. But the caveat, of course, is that you can't win unless you enter.

On top of transforming the world of entertainment, Walt Disney once said of his company, "We keep moving forward, opening new doors and doing new things because were curious, and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths."

He may not have been talking about Jeep, or even cars, but he sure knows what he's talking about. Jeep is curious about what it's capable of and drivers are curious about?well, the same thing!

Well here's a hint for Northfield used Jeep Wrangler drivers: the 2012 Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon is something to be curious about because it shows how Jeep is moving forward - without looking back. This year, Jeep built off of 2011 upgrades, including a renovated body and interior, by adding a V-6 Pentastar engine with five-speed automatic transmission.
